Question 1 Has Passed: A Message from the Barrington School Building Committee

Question 1 on Barrington’s Special Election ballot has passed. We are grateful that Barrington voters have chosen to provide funds for critical school improvements and expansion at our elementary schools and Barrington High School. This will ensure students at every school in our District can access safe and modern learning spaces for many years to come.

We know that approval of this bond means residents have placed a tremendous amount of trust in the Barrington School Building Committee (BSBC) to be good stewards of both these funds and these projects. As we move forward with the Rhode Island Department of Education’s (RIDE) school construction process into new phases of project planning and execution, we remain committed to transparency, efficiency, and community involvement.

What’s next for the Barrington School Building Project?

  • Educators across the district will have multiple opportunities to participate in the design visioning and feedback processes as we enter new phases of this project. Input from our educators is vital to creating schools that meet our community’s needs.
  • BSBC, Tecton Architects, and Downes Construction Company will continue working on Stage II of Barrington’s school construction application for RIDE, due for submission in February 2024.

Thank you for supporting our schools and our community. The approval of this bond is a significant milestone and we look forward to building the future of our schools with you.

Sincerely,

Members of the Barrington School Building Committee
